Atlas Global Solutions Receives Energy Manager Today’s Top Project of the Year Award for Digital Lumens' Intelligent LED Lighting Deployment

Digital Lumens, the market leader in intelligent LED lighting systems, today announced that its customer, Atlas Global Solutions, has received the Top Project of the Year Award in the 2015 Energy Manager Today Awards. Atlas’ deployment of the Digital Lumens’ Intelligent LED Lighting System is considered an exemplary project that demonstrates an innovative solution to energy management.

Energy Manager Today Awards is a program recognizing excellence in products and services that provide companies with significant energy management benefits, or in projects implemented by companies that improved energy management and increased the bottom line.

“We were impressed by both the number of submissions and the caliber of the entries in this first year of the Energy Manager Today Awards. The winners showed an amazing variety in the way energy reductions and savings can be achieved. Energy management is a cutting-edge field in which to be operating today; the winners here prove that innovations are opening up vast new areas of potential for improvement, and that companies are capitalizing on those opportunities in exciting and impressive ways,” says Paul Nastu, publisher of Energy Manager Today’s parent company, Business Sector Media. “Entries that were awarded Top Product or Project of the Year are those that should be carefully considered by companies seeking to improve their own operations in a similar manner.”

“We are excited for Atlas Global Services to be recognized as Energy Manager Today’s inaugural Top Project of the Year,” said Tom Pincince, President and CEO of Digital Lumens. “The award shows that the influential judging panel understands the exemplary work that the Atlas team has done to prioritize energy management and achieve operational benefits that come with smart, networked systems that provide meaningful metrics and pathways to ongoing optimization.”

In an effort to save on lighting-related energy costs and improve operational functions to better manage and control energy usage, Atlas Global Solutions, a protective packaging company, deployed Digital Lumens Intelligent LED Lighting System. The deployment reduced the total energy consumption by 1.25 million kilowatt-hours – 55% of Atlas Global Solutions’ total energy consumption. Additionally, the intelligent LED lighting deployment enabled the company to take a new approach to energy management and optimize energy consumption, as the sensors integrated in each fixture collect occupancy data, which provides insight into occupancy patterns, operational characteristics, and usage of other building systems. The initial deployment resulted in a 75% decrease in yearly energy consumption while simultaneously increasing efficiency within the facilities.

Scores were determined by a panel of independent judges from the following companies: Accenture, CapitalOne, City of Alexandria VA, COX Enterprises Inc., General Motors, MUFG Union Bank, IBM, Skidmore Owings & Merritt, US Department of Health & Human Services, USG Corporation, and Wellborn Cabinet Inc.

With rapid advancements and a continuous rate of change in the field, energy professionals have a notoriously difficult time knowing what products to choose to help their companies increase energy savings and improve energy performance. The Energy Manager Today Awards give companies a solid base of products, vetted by experts, from which to choose, as well as a variety of successful projects to illustrate how successful initiatives in energy management are helping companies improve.
