SAN FRANCISCO - Dec. 1, 2015 - PRLog -- Nomy Lamm and Lisa Ganser’s new RETROSPECTIVE album features songs from their twenty-year history of bands and solo projects including Punky Bruiser, The Foolers, Hey There Cowboy, Tricrotic, and more. Nomy, co-creator of The Transfused rock opera in Olympia, and Lisa Ganser, director of the Flaming Film Festival in Minneapolis, are making the album of rare music available only through their GoFundMe page to benefit their upcoming move from San Francisco to Olympia. “It's cool to hear our histories mixed up together like this, and we think you'll like it too! Punk rock meets cello meets accordion meets pop, with silliness and love for these fat, queer bodies we live in,” said Lamm, longtime artist and bay area queer activist.
They have become integral to bay area art and activism, and are sad to leave behind the community they've built. From their GoFundMe page: "We are disabled, struggling to make ends meet on a very limited income, and are being displaced from our housing, in part due to the rapid rise of SF rents. We've found housing that is more affordable in Nomy's hometown, Olympia, WA, and just need to get there and get grounded so we can continue our work from less of a place of crisis.”
They are returning to where Nomy grew up, was a Riot Grrrl and a young queer punk, where Lisa curated films for Homo-a-go-go and toured with bands. Now in their 40s, they are returning to be closer to the land, closer to family ... "We are artists. We are in our forties. We have disabilities,” Lamm said. “We need to be able to put down roots and stay somewhere for a while. Everything here in San Francisco is too competitive, too uncertain. So we're leaving."
Everybody who donates $20 or more on December 1, #givingtuesday, will receive a link to download RETROSPECTIVE. After Dec 1, donors simply need to mention RETROSPECTIVE and they will receive it as a thank you gift.
Nomy and Lisa’s GoFundMe campaign, http://gofundme.com/nomyandlisa, is looking to raise $6500 to cover their moving expenses, and thus far has gained support of colleagues and friends who have donated $1500.
