Parkinson's Institute and Clinical Center Appoints Dr. Salima Brillman to Medical Staff

Neurologist and Movement Disorders Specialist joins world-renowned Parkinson's team
Dec. 16, 2015 - PRLog -- The Parkinson’s Institute and Clinical Center (PI) announces the appointment of Salima Brillman, MD, to their medical staff effective today. Dr. Brillman is a bilingual board-certified Neurologist and Movement Disorders Specialist with over nine years of experience devoted to diagnosing and managing patients with Parkinson’s disease and other movement disorders. She has particular expertise in the use of Botulinum toxin, Deep Brain Stimulation and Neurogenic Orthostatic Hypotension.

Complementary to the mission of the Parkinson’s Institute and Clinical Center, Dr. Brillman recognizes the importance of dedicating time and education to the Parkinson’s disease population and their families. Upon realizing her aspiration to become a Neurologist, Dr. Brillman enrolled in Columbia University’s Post-Bac Pre-Med program and thereafter matriculated at the Universidad Autonoma de Guadalajara in Mexico. Upon graduation, Dr. Brillman prepared for a residency through the Fifth Pathway at New York Medical College. She then moved to Pittsburgh for her residency and fellowship at Allegheny General Hospital (AGH).

Following completion of her fellowship at AGH, Dr. Brillman moved to Bismarck, ND, where she was one of the founders of the only Deep Brain Stimulation program in North Dakota. Most recently, Dr. Brillman worked at the Parkinson’s Disease and Movement Disorders Center of Boca Raton (PDMDC). At PDMDC she gained considerable experience in clinical research as a sub-investigator in several trials including the Levodopa intestinal gel infusion study (Duopa™ which was FDA approved in April 2015).
