The North American-made Honda Civic wins its second NACTOY award for an outstanding redesign.
ALBANY, N.Y. - Jan. 27, 2016 - PRLog -- The 2016 Honda Civic stole the show as the ultimate winner of the North American Car of the Year Award. This recently redesigned compact car stood out amongst the competition for its innovative design and advanced technology. While this single achievement would be a milestone for any brand, Honda is no stranger to the North American Car of the Year Awards. The Civic was also honored with this award one decade ago, in 2006. Ten years later, the North American–made Civic continues its legacy of success.

Unlike with many other auto awards, the judge's panel for the North American Car of the Year Awards consists of only automotive journalists. More than 50 international journalists assess the vehicles of the year in categories like performance, handling, safety, driver satisfaction, and overall innovation. The Honda brand has been a perennial fixture of the awards, with 11 different models nominated as finalists since the debut in 1994. Outside of the Detroit Big 3 automakers, Honda has secured the most nominations of any automotive brand.

The Honda Civic has always been a popular line for its efficient and reliable performance, but Honda created even more to celebrate for 2016. Jeff Conrad, the senior vice president and general manager of the Honda Division, reports, "The all-new Civic was developed and is built in North America, making this North American Car of the Year win even sweeter." The change in scenery has led to a refreshed and revitalized appearance. Brand-new vehicle architecture creates an athletic edge, while retaining a practical interior with improved cabin space. The sporty exterior is matched by two new powerful engine options.

Additionally, Honda's new technology makes the Civic more connected than ever before. Drivers can utilize Apple CarPlay or Android Auto to sync compatible smartphones directly to the vehicle. While this feature has seen success in other models, the Civic will be the first compact car in the world to offer these conveniences. Safety technology also receives an update in the form of Honda Sensing, adding several driver-assistive features for a protected ride.

Capital Region drivers can experience the award-winning 2016 Honda Civic in person at one of eight Capital Region Honda dealerships. More information can be found online at Capital Region Honda Dealers.
