300 Million Martial Artists Defend 36 Million Modern-Day Slaves
Feb. 29, 2016 - PRLog -- The United States Taekwondo Directory announced today that it is proud to add its support behind the Martial Arts for Justice Campaign to end modern-day slavery. The Breaking Boards Breaking Chains event will launch through the month of April all across North America in efforts to raise awareness and funds for victims of human trafficking.

Now in its third year, the BBBC campaign was founded by Taekwondo Master Dean Siminoff who has dedicated his teachings in advocating for martial arts schools to become champions for freedom and justice. With an estimated 36 million modern-day slaves globally, the annual Break-A-Thon seeks an international effect by challenging the 300 million martial artists worldwide to use their skills to help those victimized by the criminality of human exploitation.

"Stepping into the unknown does not require the absence of fear but rather the presence of courage.” — Master Dean Siminoff

The annual event is an imperative call-to-action to alert the consciousness for many on a subject that is often difficult to discuss, let alone accept its existence in the 21st Century. Master Siminoff believes that as martial artists, we have the ability and obligation to assist those who are unable to fight back on their own as he recently noted by saying:

"As martial artists we form a unique and united force. It is a force of profound strength and a force that can fight for the good of the world. Everyone deserves to live an equal and safe life. We are here to empower the poor and vulnerable through the platform of martial arts against violence and oppression."

Martial arts schools and students across North America are encouraged to register for the 2016 BBBC Campaign no later than March 20 in order to have time to receive the Martial Arts for Justice (MAJ) media kit and all information needed to run a successful fundraiser event. The MAJ donates all funds to the International Justice Mission which is a globally recognized human rights agency.

Allen Smith, founder of the United States Taekwondo Directory and martial arts contributor for Examiner.com, expressed the Directory’s support by saying:

“Practically every form of martial arts holds a philosophical foundation in protecting the weak and vulnerable. Martial arts are so much more than a physical form of self-defense. As martial artists, we live by a code that is contributive to spreading peace and goodwill among humanity. The Martial Arts for Justice Organization expresses that code in remarkable fashion through its BBBC event in which schools across North America can be proud to take part.”

The online directory recognizes that it is imperative to point out that human trafficking and child slavery is not an issue that only takes place in other countries. The United States is a top destination and transit point with all fifty states reporting cases of child trafficking and exploitation. Mr. Smith added:

“Through participation in the MAJ’s Breaking Boards Breaking Chains event, martial arts schools can provide a tremendous contribution to not only ending modern-day slavery, but by teaching their students the standard of giving something back to their fellow man.”

The Directory urged martial arts schools in the U.S. and across North America to register for the 2016 Breaking Boards Breaking Chains event and to further the cause for global freedom.
