First of its kind report compares creation and acceptance of mobile apps in higher education
HERNDON, Va. - April 13, 2016 - PRLog -- DubLabs releases report findings that present data about the use and acceptance of mobile applications in top universities and colleges as defined in U.S. News and World Report. By combining Department of Education data with an assessment of mobile app types and ratings from the Apple App store, the report presents a unique perspective about what universities are doing, what's working and what's not.
"As colleges and universities are nearing the end of the school year, they're looking forward to what will help students succeed in the next academic year," said Tony Orlando, CEO of DubLabs. "In light of this year's EDUCAUSE report stressing divesting what doesn't work, we wanted to give university technology thought leaders an objective view to help them plan mobile initiatives for next year."
Findings in the report include:
- Of the 130 institutions evaluated, virtually all had at least one mobile application, and many had more than one
- Community colleges were slightly less likely to have a mobile app than public or private four-year institutions
- Lowest rated apps were single-function ones built for tours and/or alumni
- Highest rated apps were those which brought together academic and campus life functionality
