"Readers need to pay close attention if they want to reach the Ultimate Ending," adds co-founder and co-author David Kristoph. "They need to gather information, solve mysteries. It's educational in a sense, in that sometimes even a little bit of math or logic is involved."

Each book contains unique characters and multiple story paths to promote re-readability. "It's conceivable a reader could start over and take an entirely different adventure than the one they just finished," says McAleese. "That's the fun of it."

Also included are second-chance, get-out-of-trouble mechanisms for when bad choices are made. "Die-rolls and coin-flips can sometimes save you from a bad ending," says Kristoph. "We wanted to reward bold and creative choices with a chance for success. Out-of-the-box thinking can sometimes save your hide."
