The Fed Isn’t Really Going to Hike, Is It? Dow Gains 77 Points as Inflation Remains Tame

Stocks are heading higher this morning as investors reconsider whether the Fed will really hike rates as early as September, a possibility mooted by Stanley Fischer following Janet Yellen's Jackson Hole speech on Friday . The S&P 500 has risen 0.4% to 2,177.15 at 9:59 a.m. today, while the Dow Jones Industrial Average has gained 77.56 points, or 0.4%, to 18,472.96. The Nasdaq Composite has advanced 0.3% to 5,231.94. Amherst Pierpont Securities' Stephen Stanley contends today's PCE deflator likely keeps the Fed on hold until December:
