Rob Schmitt Named Business Wire’s General Counsel

Rob Schmitt, who as Business Wire’s Corporate Legal Counsel provided Business Wire staffers with valued guidance in order to protect the company’s interests and integrity, has been promoted to General Counsel.

Schmitt’s role has evolved and expanded significantly since he joined Business Wire in 2008, including playing a large part in the company’s expansion into new international markets. Today, Business Wire has 29 offices throughout North America, Europe, and the Asia Pacific region. Schmitt is tasked with advising on issues in multiple jurisdictions, and coordinating appropriate responses on a wide variety of legal and compliance matters.

Schmitt and his wife, Maria, spend much of their spare time exploring the hidden wonders of the Bay Area, including its parks, shops, bakeries, museums and art galleries.
