ORLANDO, FL, September 18, 2016 /24-7PressRelease/ -- The Law Firm of Michael T. Gibson, P.A. (www.autojusticeattorney.com) has graciously donated food and essentials to the victims affected by the 7.8-magnitude earthquake in Ecuador that killed more than 650 people and injured more than 16,600. Regions of Manta, Pedernales and Portoviejo accounted for more than 75% of the fatalities. Manta's central commercial shopping center district was completely destroyed. Even though the natural disaster occurred on April 16, 2016, there are over 26,000 survivors still living in temporary shelters. The initial assistance provided by other countries is gone, but the devastation is still present.

"My greatest hope with this humanitarian effort is that it inspires others to help those in need by being proactive in their own community," said the firm's Managing Partner, Michael T. Gibson.

In the towns of Manta and Pedernales, both beach resort towns, dependent on tourism, the unemployment rate is higher and the country is having difficulty distributing food and water to those in need, according to locals. As a result, the association of interdenominational pastors in Clearwater (CIMA), with their president Dr. Armando Reyes and the secretary, Rev. Moises Secundino, invited the Law Firm of Michael T. Gibson to be part of a humanitarian effort to bring food to the survivors.

Generous contributions from the Law Firm of Michael T. Gibson and congregations from Clearwater, Largo and the Tampa Bay area, allowed for groceries and essentials to be distributed among the survivors currently living in refugee camps, some of them living in make-shift tents.

More than 500 packages of food and essentials were distributed. Each package contained rice, beans, cooking oil, toilet paper, coffee and other essential items. Attorney Liaison & Marketing Director from the Law Firm of Michael T. Gibson, Juan Rodriguez and others from the outreach effort rented a passenger bus and loaded the luggage compartments with the packages for a 4-hour long trip to the regions of Manta and Pedernales. "Just seeing the faces of joy and their gratitude was sufficient for us," Rodriguez said.
