Fee for new customers at Tesla's Superchargers

The markets extended its gains during the midday with the Dow rocketing 347 points to 18,235. Nasdaq leaped 118 points to 5,164.


Tesla will begin charging new customers a small fee to use their Supercharger Network. There are more than 4,600 chargers globally that are currently free for Tesla owners. Customers who order a Tesla after January 1, 2017 will be allowed to charge 1,000 miles per year for free.


A change to WhatsApp's privacy policy on August 25, 2016 triggered an investigation by the Information Commissioner's Office. The UK's privacy regulator has now asked Facebook and WhatsApp to explain the policy changes more clearly to its customers or face a fine. Facebook has agreed to temporarily halt the use of data from UK WhatsApp for advertising purposes.


The Securities and Exchange Commission issued subpoenas to four banks as part of an investigation into the possible mishandling of securities in the American Depositary Receipt market. Bank of New York Mellon, Citigroup, Deutsche Bank, and JPMorgan Chase may have broken controls that were designed to prevent market abuse and tax fraud.


In the broad market, advancing issues outpaced decliners by a margin of 6 to 1 on the NYSE and by more than 5 to 1 on Nasdaq. The broader S&P 500 leaped 43 points to 2,128. Bitcoin dropped $9 to $699.
