The global supplies of arsenic amounted to 14.4 million USD in 2015, exhibiting wild fluctuations over the period under review. Exports of arsenic saw a decline in 2008, which continued into 2009, followed by a spike in 2010. Moderate growth continued in 2011, followed by a plunge in 2012, when exports decreased by -28%, and stabilized in the following year. In 2014, global supplies of arsenic bounced back, only to fall again by end of the period under review. Overall, there was an annual decrease of -1.8% from 2007 to 2015.
According to IndexBox estimates, USA led the way in global supplies of arsenic. In 2015, arsenic exports from USA totaled 3.9 million USD, which accounted for a 27% share in terms of global exports. Japan, China, Germany, and France were the other key global suppliers of arsenic in 2015, with a 68% combined share of global exports.
France (+8.5% per year) and Japan (+1.9% per year) were the fastest growing exporters from 2007 to 2015. Japan significantly strengthened its position in terms of the global arsenic exports, growing its share from 17% in 2007 to 23% in 2015.
On the other hand, Germany (19%, based on value terms), France (19%), USA (10%), Japan (7%), and India (6%) were the leading destinations of arsenic imports in 2015. Imports to Germany grew at a rapid pace of +69.9% per year from 2007 to 2015. By contrast, the USA significantly contracted its imports of arsenic over the same period. Germany’s share of global imports increased significantly (+19 percentage points), while the share of the USA illustrated negative dynamics (-17 percentage points).
