Royalty-free Stock Photos that Celebrate Diversity and Body Positivity

Story Bistro, leader in content marketing for the DIY business crowd, moves to develop niche stock image company on Kickstarter.
PORTLAND, Ore. - Nov. 10, 2016 - PRLog -- New Startup WE Stock United announced today that it is raising funds via a crowdfunding campaign on Kickstarter to develop an affordable new stock image company that focuses on diverse representation of ALL people. The company set out to raise $50,000 on Kickstarter to fund website development, legal and marketing costs, and produce the first 10,000 images for their site.

Micro business owners and bloggers (the DIY marketing crowd) produce close to 1.15 MILLION blog posts EVERY day. (Worldometers' blogging stats)

That statistic, coupled with the fact that 71% of all marketers report using images in their marketing,* and the calculation is close to 300 MILLION images in use per year (just for blog posts).

The images that bloggers and marketers choose to use are a part of their branding message. They speak volumes about who they see as clients, as fellow community members and what is normal and right.

"As a small business owner who does her own marketing, I've been frustrated for years with the lack of diversity in the stock image industry," said Tea Godfrey, founder of WE Stock United. "My clients are people of color; they come in all shapes and sizes and abilities, and that's just not reflected in the current royalty-free market."

WE Stock United was created by Story Bistro to fix the gap of representation in the part of the royalty-free image market that serves bloggers and solopreneurs (the DIY marketing crowd). Currently, efforts at creating more diverse representations have been small and/or limited to the premium stock image companies (where images can start at $30 each and go up to thousands from there). Bloggers and smaller businesses want and need more options.
