Vancouver's Newest Family Lawyer

​McGurk Fraese Family Lawyers is pleased to announce that Adrianna A. Banaszek has joined the Law Society of British Columbia, and will be practicing at the firm's new Vancouver, BC office. Adrianna had previously practiced as a family lawyer with McGurk Fraese in Calgary, Alberta.

Adrianna has ties to Vancouver, and grew up in the Okanagan region of British Columbia. Prior to joining McGurk Fraese Family Lawyers, Adrianna worked for a boutique litigation firm in Kelowna.

Adrianna's call to the bar brings the firm's complement of Vancouver family lawyers to three. She joins Heather Fraese and Heather McGurk in the Vancouver office. The firm intends to continue to expand its Vancouver presence to serve a growing clientele in the lower mainland.

Prior to joining McGurk Fraese Family Lawyers as an Articling Student, Adrianna obtained her Juris Doctor from the University of Saskatchewan. She also holds a Bachelor of Journalism (High Honours) with a double major in journalism and law from Carleton University. Before dedicating her legal practice exclusively to family law matters, Adrianna gained invaluable experience working at a boutique civil and criminal litigation firm in the Okanagan, and a personal injury firm in Calgary.

Adrianna focussed on medical and science reporting during her undergraduate studies, interning at the Canadian Medical Association Journal in Ottawa. She was selected as the recipient of the Canadian Science Writers’ Association travel grant for her freelance writing in 2012, and attended the AAAS Annual Meeting in Vancouver as a student representative. Throughout law school, Adrianna was also an involved member – volunteering as the Publicity Director for the Law Students’ Association, representing her College in the 2015 Willms & Shier Environmental Law Moot, volunteering for Pro Bono Students Canada, and performing at Legal Follies, an annual live charity show.

Adrianna’s journalism and public relations experience are an integral part to how she approaches legal issues. She believes that understanding people’s stories is essential to building relationships and finding solutions. Understanding the full picture is especially important in family law matters, which require an appreciation for each client’s unique circumstances for efficient conflict resolution.

When not in the office, Adrianna is backcountry hiking, experiencing new cultures on international adventures, and taking in all that her new home of Vancouver has to offer. Hailing from the Okanagan Valley, she is an avid snowboarder, vineyard visitor, and enjoys watersports in all forms. Adrianna is first-generation Canadian and fluent in Polish.
