The markets markets closed mixed with the Dow rising 21 points to 18,868 despite merger and acquisition activity as technology stocks posted losses. Nasdaq fell 18 points to 5,218.

Puma Biotechnology's (NYSE: PBYI) breast cancer treatment neratinib may be too toxic to gain regulatory approval.


Profit taking weighed down shares of Vince Holding (NYSE: VNCE).


Investors locked in profits on Turtle Beach (Nasdaq: HEAR).


In the broad market, advancing issues outpaced decliners by a margin of nearly 10 to 9 on the NYSE and by more than 7 to 5 on Nasdaq. The broader S&P 500 held steady at 2,164. Bitcoin climbed $4 to $702.
