Dr. Jane Penelope Johnson, PhD will be featured in an upcoming edition of Women of Distinction Magazine in 2016.

LEXINGTON, KY, November 23, 2016 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Dr. Jane Penelope Johnson, PhD, Freelance Writer, Poet Laureate, and Songwriter, has been recognized with an Excellence Award as a Distinguished Professional in her field through Women of Distinction Magazine. Dr. Jane Penelope Johnson, PhD will be featured in an upcoming edition of Women of Distinction Magazine in 2016.

World-renowned Freelance Writer, Poet Laureate, and Lyricist, Dr. Jane Penelope Johnson, PhD, who specializes in patriotic and gospel songs, has been credited with many awards throughout her career, including being named Most Admired Woman of the Decade and International Woman of the Year. She's also been included in the 500 Greatest Genius Laureates of the 21st Century, received a Presidential Award from President George W. Bush a few years back, and was honored with The Emily Dickinson Award for her poem, 'The Wedding'. Several of her published works having included 'Anthology, Treasured Poems of America', 'A Penny for Your Thoughts', and 'A Song for Peace'. One of her poems, 'The Beginning or the End?', was a semi-finalist at The North American Poetry Open, and another one of her poems 'Shout it Out-Immortal Verses about the Birth of Jesus Christ' was published worldwide. Some of her poetry has also been turned into song lyrics.

Writing under the penname 'Penny Johnson', Johnson first took to writing when she was just a child. Growing up in Kentucky, her teachers quickly learned how talented she was, and not too long after she had her first poem published locally in the Danville, Kentucky newspaper. Later graduating from the Famous Writer's School in Westport, Connecticut in 1967, Johnson went on to fulfill an amazing career doing what she loved best. She has never looked back.

"I hope to contribute to the world by writing for as long as I can," Johnson said, who is now 75-years-young and a proud mother and grandmother.

In 2004, Johnson wrote a book, entitled 'A Penny for Your Thoughts', which was published through Author House. The 52-page book presents verses about nature, love, life, death, philosophy, and religion. Each poem is written to capture readers attention, making them thirst for more.

Active as a member and advisor to the International Society of Poets, a member of National Author Registry, and Famous Poets Society, Johnson is also a Certified Christian Lay Counselor. In 1993, she was given an Honorary Doctor of Letters from London, England in 1993.
