Women of Distinction Magazine Selects Carmelita Rogers as a Distinguished Professional in Her Field

Carmelita Rogers was recently featured in the October 2015 edition of Women of Distinction Magazine.

OMAHA, NE, December 07, 2016 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Carmelita Rogers, Corrections Lieutenant with the Douglas County Department of Corrections, has been recognized as a Distinguished Professional in her field through Women of Distinction Magazine. Carmelita Rogers was recently featured in the October 2015 edition of Women of Distinction Magazine.

Serving local government as a Corrections Lieutenant with the Douglas County Department of Corrections, Carmelita Rogers has been very active in her current role for more than 18 years now. Overseeing operations of the jail during her 7-3pm shift, five days per week, she works alongside two fellow lieutenants to ensure the proper maintenance of the facility, resolve emergencies, ensure that staff is always following proper protocols so that the facility remains safe at all times, as well as oversee employees and their schedules.

Rogers's career in corrections began in 1998. As an African American woman working in such a field, it hasn't always been easy, but she credits her sheer determination and love for the field of criminal justice.

"Every day will present a host of challenges," Rogers said. "You never know what the day ahead will look like. Perhaps that is what I love about this job so much; no two days are ever the same."

Earning her Bachelor's Degree in Business Management in 2010 while working full-time, Rogers then completed her MBA just a year later in 2011, followed by a Certificate in Human Resource Management in 2014, all through the University of Phoenix. Currently serving as a volunteer mentor for the University, Rogers is also active as a member of American Jail Association, where she has the pleasure of spending time with fellow officers, gaining valuable resources, and staying up to date on the laws and regulations of the state of Nebraska.
