Dolby Laboratories Among Fast Company's Most Innovative Companies in Consumer Electronics

Dolby Laboratories, Inc. (NYSE:DLB) has been featured in Fast Company’s Most Innovative Companies in Consumer Electronics.

Most Innovative Companies is one of Fast Company’s most significant and highly anticipated editorial efforts of the year. To produce the 2017 list, Fast Company reporters surveyed thousands of enterprises across the globe to identify the most notable innovations of the year and trace the impact of those initiatives on business, industry, and the larger culture.

The company’s internal focus on innovation has led to breakthroughs across its major product lines: Dolby Cinema, Dolby Atmos, and Dolby Vision.

Over the past two years, Dolby has been advancing the science of sight and sound with its Dolby Cinema initiative, which includes the award-winning Dolby Vision and Dolby Atmos technologies. The premium cinema offering combines spectacular image and sound technologies with inspired design to deliver the total cinema experience to moviegoers. To date, more than 70 titles, released or announced, have been mastered in Dolby Vision and Dolby Atmos for Dolby Cinema. In addition, more than 300 Dolby Cinema sites have been installed or committed to across the globe. The company’s work has also enabled a new level of innovation in filmmaking, with 12 movies nominated for Academy Awards utilizing Dolby Vision and/or Dolby Atmos.

Dolby has shown its commitment to extending that innovation into the home with an unprecedented number of products announced at CES 2017 that support both Dolby Vision and Dolby Atmos. Leveraging the HDR innovation that powers Dolby’s most advanced cinemas around the world, Dolby Vision transforms the TV experience in the home by delivering greater brightness and contrast, as well as a fuller palette of rich colors. Dolby Atmos puts you inside the action with bigger, more encompassing sound that fills your room—even overhead—and immerses you in your entertainment. New products featuring these technologies from partners including Lenovo, LG, P&F USA (Philips), Sony, and TCL—operating across broadcast, over-the-top (OTT), Ultra HD Blu-ray, gaming, and music—will be arriving in homes later this year. Consumers today already have access to a growing library of content, including more than 90 Hollywood titles and more than 100 hours of original TV content in Dolby Vision across leading OTT providers globally, and more than 100 titles in Dolby Atmos.

Fast Company’s Most Innovative Companies issue (March 2017) is now available online at www.fastcompany.com/MIC as well as in app form via iTunes, and on newsstands beginning February 21.
