4Front Healthcare Raises Minimum Wage for Employees and Challenges Others to Do the Same

Atlanta, GA - February 16, 2017 - (Newswire.com)

George L. Slaughter, CEO of 4Front Healthcare, has made a decision to voluntarily increase minimum wage in his organizations in Atlanta, Savannah, and Macon (soon to open) to $15.00/hour starting January 1, 2017.

Mr. Slaughter believes this increase will help his organization attract and retain the best talent in entry-level healthcare.  Although increasing wages could affect the profit margins of 4Front, Slaughter feels morally obligated to join the national income inequality debate, being driven by minimum wage workers’ protests across the country calling for $15 an hour.  “Organizations must recognize the fundamental importance of paying employees enough so they are able to support their families and cover basic needs such as food and rent,” Slaughter says.  “It’s also good for my Healthcare business because it will help us attract and retain the best talent in hospice care.”

4Front Healthcare was established by Slaughter in 2014 to provide professional home health hospice with supportive services to clients and families. 4Front has well-trained staff who are experienced and fully capable of assisting families to achieve optimum health at home.

The doctor and care team work with clients and their families to set up a plan of care that meets their needs. If clients qualify for care, they will have a specially trained care team and support staff available to help them and their family in coping with illness. 4Front sees clients and their family members as the most important part of the care team.  Services provided include:

Ø Nursing Care

Ø Social Services

Ø Physician Services

Ø Spiritual Support and Counseling

Ø Home Health Aides (C.N.A)

Ø Trained Volunteer Support

Ø Physical, Occupational, and Speech Therapies

Ø Respite Care

Ø Inpatient Care

Ø Bereavement Support

Slaughter says, “I want to create a better everyday life for my employees. Although current staff is already making more than the required minimum wage, I believe raising the minimum wage to $15.00 will greatly impact productivity, morale, motivation, and commitment to the organization.”

Research shows that higher salaries are instrumental in increasing motivation and the perception of fairness in the workplace.  And this translates to high productivity.  Higher wages also help employees maintain better physical and mental health and could relieve “decision fatigue” (Mani, et al 2013; Shah et al, 2012) allowing them to be more productive at work.  Higher wages will also reduce turnover and save the organization on recruiting/training costs. Slaughter knows that when employees feel appreciated and valued in the workplace, they will be more motivated and connected to the mission.

Slaughter challenges other healthcare organizations to join him in raising the minimum wage of their staff.  The lives we impact in healthcare are important; therefore, we must ensure that our staff have the right skills and motivation to ensure our success.
