Honolulu, HI - February 21, 2017 - (Newswire.com)

Rayla Okasaki, a fifth-grade student at Trinity Christian School in Kailua, has won the Doodle4Google Contest for the state of Hawaii. In her whimsical drawing, she provides an inventive solution to the problem of traffic: a combination plane/rocketship/canoe/sailboat/bicycle that can rise above the congestion and speedily take its occupants to their destination.

Contestants were asked to submit a creative interpretation of the Contest theme: “What I see for the future…” incorporating the letters from the Google logo. Miss Okasaki’s work will represent the state of Hawaii at the national level. If she is selected as the National Winner, she will win a $30,000 college scholarship, a $50,000 technology grant for her school, and other prizes, including having her doodle displayed on the Google home page for one day.

Judging at the national level is determined by both Google doodler artists and the number of public votes the drawing receives. Help Hawaii win the national Doodle4Google Contest by voting for our young Hawaii artist online from February 23 to March 6.

Miss Okasaki’s art teacher, Cheri Firth says, “We at TCS are all so very proud of Rayla and the strength of her work ethic, imagination, and creativity.  Her love for those things beautiful coupled with her steadfast character produces many art pieces that belie her youth, and we are blessed to invest in this young artist.”

Google will be hosting an assembly for Miss Okasaki and her Trinity schoolmates on February 22nd at 1:00 p.m. in the Kailua United Methodist Church Sanctuary at 1110 Kailua Road. At this event, Google representatives will announce Miss Okasaki as the Hawaii State Winner and display an 8’ x 5’ rendering of her Google doodle.  The press and public are invited to attend.
