The Paintings about Capablanca - Alekhine World Championship Match (1927) Show in Bulgarian Haskovo

An exhibition "Chess Kings" of artist Roman Gumanyuk launched at the Forum Art Gallery in the town of Haskovo (Bulgaria) on March.

SOFIA, BULGARIA, April 11, 2017 /24-7PressRelease/ -- An exhibition "Chess Kings" of artist Roman Gumanyuk launched at the Forum Art Gallery in the town of Haskovo (Bulgaria) on March, 22.

This show includes 22 artworks from "Chess series" by author. The exhibited paintings are large expressional works that convey view on the chess of the artist through bright colors that reflect what he sees on the chess field. In this series of works, Roman Gumanyuk creates memorable images giving a viewer a space to ponder.

The focus of the exhibition is on the portraits of Jose Raul Capablanca and Alexander Alekhine from their famous match for the world chess title in Buenos Aires, 1927. Together two portraits create a single picture depicting a meeting of legendary chess players in the 11th game of the match.

The event is organized with the assistance of Haskovo Municipality and the "Bulgarian Chess Union 1931". The exhibition was opened by Mayor Dobri Belivanov. The guest of honor at the exhibition was Grandmaster Ventzislav Inkiov, who played before the opening a simultaneous game on 22 boards with young chess players.

Roman Gumanyuk was born in 1985. The artist works in various genres and techniques. He has held 27 solo exhibitions. His paintings have been exhibited in museums and galleries of Ukraine, Bulgaria, France, Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan, Belarus, USA and Italy. The author is a member of the VI Biennale of Contemporary Art in Florence.
