Valerie Ziegenfuss Has Been Recognized Among the Top in Her Industry by the Expert Network©

Though today Valerie is widely regarded as one of the leading real estate professionals in the San Diego area, her rise to the top of the industry followed a circuitous path. Growing up, Valerie was a passionate tennis player. In 1970, she and a group of 8 female tennis players rebelled against the United States Lawn Tennis Association to start their own Women's pro tennis circuit. They were called the "Original 9" lead by Billie Jean King. Women's Pro Tennis has not looked back since and today the women compete for equal prize money with the men at the U.S. Open Championships held in New York. After retiring from playing tennis, Valerie continued to teach the sport and coach on a national level for many years. When asked why she decided to transition to a career in real estate, Ms. Ziegenfuss said:

"When I couldn’t run after the ball anymore, I thought, okay, what am I going to do now? I had always had an interest in real estate so I decided to pursue it as a career and have not looked back since."

As a thought-leader in her field, Ms. Ziegenfuss keeps a close watch on prevailing trends in her industry. Lately, Valerie has been paying attention to the long-anticipated increase in interest rates in her area. She explains:

"Interest rates have been low, but since 2014, each year they have been predicted to go up the next year, and they haven't yet. So it will be interesting when they do, and I think it will happen soon. When it does, I expect the mortgage companies will figure out creative financing so some of the Adjustable-Rate Mortgages might come back."
