Christie and lawmakers at impasse; state government closed

The budget stalemate between Republican Gov. Chris Christie and the Democrat-controlled Legislature smoldered on Monday with the state government shut down and state parks closed to the public — but apparently not to Christie and his family — as the Fourth of July approaches.
