AMD shares pop after promising strong future quarters

Shares of Sunnyvale-based chipmaker Advanced Micro Devices Inc. jumped more than 7 percent in early trading Wednesday, after the company posted a surprisingly strong earnings report, and promised even better performance in future quarters.
