Renowned Queer Storyteller Documents Personal Journey Through SurrogacyDirector Quentin Lee is known for creating riveting films such White Frog and Ethan Mao, which often touch on the themes of personal discovery and the importance of family, but now the acclaimed filmmaker will be on the other side of the camera with REVRY’s forthcoming Original Series, Gay Hollywood Dad – a docu-series following Lee through the process of surrogacy, the birth of his son, Casper, and his first year of life.
Lee, who is openly gay and of Asian descent, created the series to show the real-life struggle that LGBTQ parents have to endure to start a family. The episodes capture Lee and Casper at intensely personal moments–from the baby’s birth to preparing for Casper’s 100th day party, shooting a short film with a baby in tow, and traveling to Hong Kong, San Diego, and Vancouver. Viewers are invited to experience the journey alongside Lee as he becomes accustomed to being a new father in the context of an often grueling Hollywood lifestyle.
