During Esphahani’s time with Sotheby’s, she was promoted to Chairman of International Jewelry, and she says that this experience was priceless. She explains, “That was an amazing experience because then I was responsible for finding the items through auctions and different centers in the world — Hong Kong, Geneva and New York — and for knowing the different markets. There are certain items that would sell more in the Far East, some items that are are better for the United States and some that are better for the European and Middle Eastern market. I traveled a lot and extended my contacts with the international trade and the international private clients. I learned that, at the end of the day, jewelry is universal. In every culture and every country, jewelry is something precious.”
