Mansfield, Texas, United States - December 13, 2017 - Republican Dr. Kevin Harrison, a resident of Mansfield, is honored to announce his decision to run for the US House of Representatives, 6th District in the State of Texas. Harrison is the President of West Coast Bible College and Seminary, an innovative, 100% online college he founded in 2006 and has witnessed its’ growth to over 1,100 students. Additionally, he has dedicated his life to serving others for over 30 years as a pastor, and he knows the issue of character is central in this election.
“With all the scandals going on in our nation from Hollywood to Washington to network television, the character of the candidates running has never been more important than it is right now. I’ve listened as story after story has come out, detailing the pain of the victims, and I was struck with a similar sense of responsibility I’ve experienced throughout my life: I’ve got to do something,” said Dr. Kevin Harrison while announcing his decision.
Doing “something” to help others is how Harrison has always lived his life. “I’ve led teams that have built churches, schools, medical clinics, and homes in the US, as well as in Central and South America, Asia, and Africa and our churches partnered with various global organizations to feed, literally, thousands of orphans and widows around the world and to provide clean drinking water for those in need,” he added.
For over 30 years, Harrison has served his city, state, nation, and world in practical, tangible ways, including the establishment of one of the largest food banks in Central Texas to help families in need because he genuinely cares about people. He has also served onsite following significant disasters including the 2001 El Salvador earthquake, 9/11, Hurricane Katrina, the 2010 Haiti earthquake, and the April 17, 2013, West, Texas Explosion.
Harrison knows how to bring people together. In 2015, before moving back into the district, he was the Lead Administrator for the Gathering Waco where he worked with other church and business leaders to bring together over 30,000 people from all backgrounds, races, and denominations at McLane Stadium…the largest such gathering in the history of Waco.
Harrison has walked through real life with real people, and he believes his connection to the everyday person will help him serve others more effectively. “I’ve been there for people for some of the biggest events in their lives including the birth of their children, graduations, weddings, and hundreds of funerals. I’ve spent countless hours counseling people through difficult life crises, walked through gut-wrenching divorce proceedings, celebrated adoption days, and I’ve had the misfortune of personally delivering the news to parents that their children passed away.”
Harrison is NOT your typical Republican candidate. He strongly believes, “Washington doesn’t need another career politician in the US House of Representatives; we need a REAL person who has been there with REAL people and who can help bring others together, not divide us.”

Dr. Kevin Harrison has been married for over 30 years to Becky Neel Harrison who is from Latexo, Texas. He is blessed with two amazing daughters, Mikaela, who is 21 and a junior at TCU, and Julianna, who is 16 and a junior at Mansfield Lake Ridge High School. He completed his undergraduate degree at Southwestern Assemblies of God University in Waxahachie and later went on to further his education, earning additional degrees including a Doctor of Ministry degree from Luther Rice Seminary.
