Arizona-Based Startup Makes Down Under Deal for Graphite and Graphene Technology

Phoenix, Arizona - January 22, 2018 - As part of its strategy to become a key player in the lithium battery industry, Urbix Resources has signed a mutli-faceted mutli-year agreement with Battery Minerals, an ASX listed Australian company that will commence production of high quality graphite flake concentrate from their Mozambique mines later in 2018.

The agreement secures for Urbix an even larger supply of the flake graphite required for the pristine graphene they are producing at their state-of-the-art laboratory located at a tech accelerator in Mesa, Arizona.

In addition, a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the two companies provisions for a joint international marketing strategy that includes the continued development of a spherical graphite for use as anode material in lithium-ion batteries.

“Our needs and goals really dovetail nicely with the projects Battery Minerals are working on and the things they have coming down the pipe,” says Adam Small, CEO of Urbix Resources who was recently named to Forbes magazine’s 30-under-30 in Energy. “In addition, both companies are deeply committed to not only producing graphite and graphene of the highest quality, but doing it with a constant eye on sustainability and responsibility to the environment.”

In the coming months, Urbix will be doing complete test work on Battery Minerals’ concentrates with the goal of demonstrating the feasibility of Urbix’s cost-effective spheronization and purification process using Battery Minerals’ product. This will include testing proprietary spheronization and coating methods as well as investigation of Urbix’s “green” purification method and other test work.

An additional MoU contemplates a toll process purification agreement with Urbix supplying Battery Minerals with Urbix’s innovative and environmentally-friendly graphite purification processes. The MoU establishes a framework for co-operation for the purposes of developing and executing an agreement in which Battery Minerals will supply Urbix with graphite flake concentrate for toll treatment. Urbix will purify Battery Minerals’ 95+% TGC natural flake graphite concentrate into a purified flake graphite with a TGC of a minimum 99.5%. Urbix will have a right to acquire the product from the toll treatment.

Yet another MoU between the two companies covers joint commercialization and ongoing technology access.
