Mayor Warren Proclaims Jan. 21-27 “Rochester School Choice Week” and Joins Leaders Nationwide in Celebrating Opportunity in Education

Mayor Warren has officially proclaimed Jan. 21-27 as Rochester School Choice Week, joining hundreds of city and county leaders nationwide plus dozens of governors in issuing similar proclamations.

More than 1,000 School Choice Week celebrations will take place in the state of New York, including 42 in Rochester. Across the country, more than 32,000 rallies, roundtable discussions, coffeehouse meet-ups, festivals, school fairs, and other events will raise awareness of opportunity in education.

“We are thankful that Mayor Warren has issued this proclamation,” said Andrew Campanella, president of National School Choice Week. “Parents can use School Choice Week as an opportunity to network and talk with each other, making sure their children are in the schools or educational programs best suited to their unique, individual needs.”

Held every January, National School Choice Week is an independent, nonpartisan, nonpolitical public awareness effort designed to shine a positive spotlight on effective education options for every child. Through thousands of independently planned events, meetings, and activities across the country, National School Choice Week raises public awareness of all types of educational choices available to children. These options include traditional public schools, public charter schools, public magnet schools, online learning, private schools, and homeschooling.
