Born and raised in Oklahoma City, LaToya Cooper is one of Dallas, Texas's brightest rising stars in jazz/soul music. Her sound is influenced by pioneers such as Nancy Wilson and Anita Baker, as well as contemporary luminaries like Mary J. Blige. She got her start in a local Oklahoma City band, opening for reggae superstars such as The Wailers and Jimmy Cliff at the Austin Reggae Fest. Latoya took a break from music and went on to earn three consecutive degrees, including her MBA. She returned to music shortly thereafter to record her debut solo project, the Eclectic Soul (https://open.spotify.com/album/5fII4yJd5Vgm4pd7rINk3N) EP, released in 2015. Latoya recently became a member of the Grammy Recording Academy this year, and was nominated as Soul Tracks' 2017 New Artist of The Year (https://www.soultracks.com/nominees-2017-awards).
