Influx of Chinese Productions Work in New York

By: Get News

China’s latest export has Hollywood roots and a Big Apple flavor.  China’s fledgling film industry is undoubtedly on the rise and now comes the latest incarnation of their growing reach into the United States economy.  With more and more Chinese-backed movie productions taking shape in the States, we interviewed Jingai Li, the Production Designer and Producer of IMC Film Production, to get a better sense of the growing influence of Chinese sponsored, U.S. based productions.  Ms. Li was recently in New York to kick start IMC’s latest collaboration with China’s Mango Manufacturing, on a television series that is set to begin shooting in New York next month.

IMC Film Production is based in Hollywood, California and Ms. Li has positioned the company to focus on shooting Chinese-based films in the United States.  She believes that with the combination of a growing talent pool, matured infrastructure that is already in place along with a wide array of locations makes the United States an ideal place for shooting films.  Her perseverance and hard work has paid off when she secured the recent partnership with Mango Manufacturing, which is one of the largest television variety production companies in China.  “I believe that we can use what advantages American filming provides and improve movies and filming in China,” said Ms. Li.  Under her guidance, IMC Film Production is positioned to widen their outreach and become one of the true successful Sino-U.S. productions.

New York provides a natural playground for filming of different arrays and the Chinese marketplace is hungry to get their piece of the Big Apple.  With the growing Asian population and marketplace in cities such as Flushing and New York City, it is no wonder that more and more film producers are looking west to film their projects. “New York is a legendary city and there are a lot of Chinese population here to give us everything we need. We can find locations similar to mainland China and cast Chinese nationals in the U.S. I believe this is the start of a long lasting successful partnership,” said Ms. Li.
