Houston, TX – On February 6th, 2018, Kristin Howard launched a Kickstarter campaign for The Adventures of Little Clifton and Oliver, an illustrated children’s story about an imaginative young boy and a curious raccoon. This Kickstarter campaign will fund the first book in this illustrated adventure book series, ‘An Inquisitive Encounter’.
“This book reminds children of the magic and adventure waiting for them outside,” explained the creator, “We see what happens when children step away from structured play and electronics, walk into nature, and let their desire to explore and their imagination take control of their play time.”
The main characters in this series are Little Clifton, a young and joyful elementary school aged boy and Oliver, a curious young racoon. In the first story of this collection, we see both characters experiencing similar lively play time, but one characters always misses the other. While Oliver fishes in the creek on a warm, sunny evening, Little Clifton just misses him as he heads home for dinner. On a rainy morning, Little Clifton splashes in the creek while unaware that Oliver sleeps nearby. A chance encounter between them creates a lasting friendship full of exciting adventures together.
The illustrations are hand sketched by Matt Stone with Stone Illustrations and then drawn as digital sketches, so color can be digitally applied and edited without diminishing the graphic quality of the hand sketched look. From comical expressions to fear to wonderment, Matt Stone brings it all into the faces of the characters. Kristin Howard digitally applies color to the illustrations to bring her love of bright colors and high contrast to the table.

In exchange for pledging to the project, backers can gain access to a variety of rewards including a digital download of the book for $10, a hardcover copy for $25, and more. Backers can also pledge $45 for two hardcover books or $50 for a signed hardcover book and three 4 x 6 printed portraits of Little Clifton and Oliver. All backers get will get an opportunity to vote on the theme of the next adventure story.
