The Micro learning concept promotes the use of relatively small learning units, known as micro courses, that are designed to be consumed in small 5-10 minute chunks rather than traditional multi-hour courses. Micro courses are lightweight courses that are an ideal instructional approach for many situations especially for skill development and on the job training.

The new Micro learning feature in NEO and MATRIX allows users to create micro courses that are comprised of small pieces of content and assessments. For example, a micro course could be made out of a video as the content and a quiz as the assessment. CYPHER LEARNING has added special features that support micro learning, by removing all distractions from courses and allowing students to focus on the bite-sized content.

Micro courses are exactly like regular courses from an instructor's or teacher's perspective. You can add HTML, SCORM, and assessments as sections, you can publish it in the course catalog and sell it, and you can use automation to award certificates of completion. Micro courses can also be part of learning paths.

Soon CYPHER LEARNING will launch adaptive learning, which allows users to personalize what content a student sees in a course based on rule actions. This innovative feature will also allow users to hide/show courses in learning paths.
