The San Francisco Bird Hotel℠ to Be Featured in Major Network Launch

The San Francisco Bird Hotel will be featured a segment of the local newsmagazine program, “This is SF”. The series is scheduled to premiere Saturday, March 10 at 7: 30 p.m. on networks including CBS (KPIX), The CW, and ReachMe.TV, with new episodes airing every Saturday thereafter. The San Francisco Bird Hotel segment is scheduled to be aired in May 2018.  

The Hotel’s proprietor and “Chief Bird Concierge”, Birgit Soyka, along with her crew, will be walking the red carpet on Thursday, March 8, 2018, at Hotel Zephyr in San Francisco as part of the premiere’s opening celebration, which is sponsored by Circle 8 Productions. “I am thrilled to have the Hotel be featured in ‘This is SF’,” said Birgit Soyka, Founder and Proprietor of the San Francisco Bird Hotel. “The success of a hotel dedicated to birds is part of what makes San Francisco so similar to our Bay Area parrots: eclectic, long-lived, intelligent, and colorful.”

“This is SF” is Circle 8 Production’s lifestyle television show that features the hottest local businesses, restaurants, trends, products, and must-see destinations in the San Francisco and Northern California region. The program will provide an inside look into the fast-paced and ever-changing landscape of Northern California, with an emphasis on what’s trending in the Bay Area’s lifestyle leader, San Francisco.

About the San Francisco Bird Hotel: Founded in 2006 as a hobby in an apartment, the San Francisco Bird Hotel evolved due to incredible demand from the untold numbers of Bay Area avian guardians who finally had an answer to the question of who could knowledgeably care for a most ancient, exotic, undomesticated, and popular family member. No longer able to fit demand into her own space, Birgit moved operations to a commercial warehouse in South San Francisco in January 2014 as the first “Bird Hotel” in the Bay Area. 

After renovations and improvements to make the space “parrot friendly”, the business has flourished. The ideal location – minutes from San Francisco International Airport – has opened up access to bird enthusiasts throughout the entire Bay Area.  In 2016, demand for accommodations at the Hotel was so high that Birgit expanded its facilities to add another 2500 square feet. As a result, the Hotel boasts 5000 square feet of posh bird rooms offering individual cages, daily fresh food, mental stimulation for the birds and all-day entertainment.

This unique “avian lodging and spa” has not gone unnoticed by the press. In October 2014, the San Francisco Bird Hotel was featured in a Bay Area News segment entitled, “Lodgers flock to San Francisco Bird Hotel”. Then, in May of 2017, the SF Chronicle featured the San Francisco Bird Hotel on their video site, “The Regulars” in a piece entitled, “The Bird Hotelier”. This was followed by a written piece in the Chronicle’s newspaper. Later that year, SF radio station KALW aired a piece about the San Francisco Bird Hotel.
