Summer Reading Adventure Program returns at Books-A-Million through Labor Day

Don’t miss the bus! The return of warm weather and a break from school signifies the start of Books-A-Million’s Summer Reading Adventure Program! Now through Labor Day, students looking to flex their literary muscles throughout summer break are invited to participate in the annual program designed to strengthen children’s reading and writing skills while away from school. Those who complete the program will receive a special prize from this year’s summer reading program ambassador, Mo Willems.

“During summer vacation many students take a break from learning, which can hinder their hard-earned progress from the previous school year,” said Sandra Wilson, vice president of merchandising for Books-A-Million. “We encourage parents and their children to participate in our fun, interactive Summer Reading Adventure Program to continue, and even advance, educational development into the school year this fall!”

Challenging participants to read a new author or illustrator this year, 2018 summer reading program ambassador Mo Willems is a No. 1 New York Times bestselling, award-winning, author, illustrator and summer reader. Many of Willems’ hilarious works can be found on the reading list for this year’s program, including “Waiting Is Not Easy!,” “My New Friend Is So Fun!,” “Don’t Let the Pigeon Drive the Bus!” and “I Broke My Trunk!” The complete summer reading list is available at all Books-A-Million stores or online at booksamillion.com/summeradventure.

“Reading is a superpower that allows you to fly to new worlds, see through walls and leap into the minds of others!” said Mo Willems, program ambassador for Books-A-Million’s Summer Reading Adventure Program.

To participate in the summer challenge, students must read any four books from the designated list and return a completed book log to any Books-A-Million store by Labor Day. Those who complete the reading challenge will receive FREE Mo Willems pencils and case!
