HYBRID NONPROFIT TO RAISE TRYPOPHOBIA AWARENESS.

June 20th, 2018 - Las Vegas, NV - Nowadays, mental health disorders are on the forefront of our minds impacting countless individuals from youth to the elderly. Hybrid nonprofit has identified the need for awareness regarding a mental health disorder which has been neglected for far too long — Trypophobia, the pathological fear of holes, particular those that are clustered together in a pattern.

Trypophobia describes a person with the fear of clusters of holes, pods, circles, cracks, and all or other asymmetrical shapes which results in all-over itchy feeling and general uneasiness. The severity of symptoms fluctuates from person to person and can last for minutes to hours. People who suffer from the disease are known as Trypophobes.  It is sad that even as most of the human race if not all, experience it at some level, Trypophobia is a mental disorder currently not recognized by the scientific community.

Hybrid Nonprofit is concerned with the fact that the phobia impacts the lives of many individuals, even though it is not currently recognized by the American Psychiatric Association’s Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders (DSM).  The disease has long been attributed as an artificially created phobia or psuedophobia since it does not meet the DSM’s criteria of significantly interfering with a person’s normal routine (Fern, 2015). The cluster formation that triggers Trypophobia most often appears in human disease leading researchers to speculate that Trypophobia is nothing more than the brains primitive repulsion towards circumstances that pose risk to human health (Howarth & Diels, 2013). Unfortunately, at this time there is no cure for Trypophobia.

“I can't believe Trypophobia is not recognized by the scientific community based on the overwhelming response and reaction provided by the general public. We hope that this awareness eventually leads to the scientific community accepting and finding a cure for Trypophobia.” Justin Whitesides CEO Hybrid Nonprofit, expressed, after conducting a survey of reactions from individuals who took the Trypophobia test.

Hybrid Nonprofit created a free Trypophobia test on YouTube for individuals to self-assess their level of Trypophobia.
