SPOKANE, Wash. & KETCHIKAN, Alaska - Aug. 30, 2018 - PRLog -- "Can a Cookie Change the World?" written by Ketchikan, Alaska resident Rhonda Bolling, was nominated in May for a 2018 Author Academy Award, an honor bestowed for literary merit and publishing excellence in the writing and publishing industry. Bolling is now among the top 10 finalists.

Offering hope and inspiring kindness, generosity and teamwork, the book shares a true story about a big-hearted, young girl who leads a yearly fundraising event that impacts a small island town in Alaska. The author compassionately shares the details and stories behind those helping and those helped. The book closes with a question and a challenge to the reader that prompts thoughtful discussion and a call to action. Sure to inspire young and old alike.

Seventy (70) percent of sales proceeds are split between ALS-TDI (Lou Gehrig's Disease) to help find a cure, and Tessa's "Kids' Cookies for a Cause."

Not only is this Bolling's second published book, but she has also helped two other authors publish their works:  Barbara Kimball's "After Midnight Meditations," and M.T. Cobblepott's (aka Suzan Thompson) "The Day the Pudding Got Away."  All can be easily found with an online search or on shelves in several local Ketchikan stores.  More info is available at https://www.rhondabolling.com/

"Out of hundreds of authors around the world, only ten in each category captured a chance to present their books at a red-carpet session at the Author Academy Awards," said Kary Oberbrunner, founder of Author Academy Elite and the Author Academy Awards. "Our goal is to help further connect this global community of authors, maintain excellence and integrity of the book publishing industry, and raise awareness that the stories being told and the authors who write them are worth our attention."

Entries are being reviewed and evaluated on popular vote, social contribution, and overall presentation (cover, content, flow, and originality) by the Academy's voting membership comprised of best-selling authors, literary agents, and industry leaders.

Bolling (maiden name Fox) was born in Colville, Washington and attended Kettle Falls Elementary School through her sixth-grade year until her family's work took them to Tekoa, WA, and then Brewster, WA where she started 8th grade and was able to remain planted and graduated from Brewster High School in 1984. She attended college in Spokane and from there moved to Alaska in 1995.  Friends and family through Washington state are helping her organize an April 2019 book-reading tour that will reach over 2,000 elementary school children. Bolling visited Colbert and Reardan Elementary Schools in the Spokane area in June of 2018.

Bolling, along with other Author Academy Elite authors, will be at the Polaris Barnes & Noble for a large author signing and book event on Thursday, October 25, 2018.
