  • PewDiePie has been the top subscribed YouTube channel since 2013.
  • Now, his spot might be taken by Bollywood production company T-Series.
  • Viewers are watching PewDiePie and T-Series' subscriber counts play out in real time.

PewDiePie, the controversial Swedish YouTube personality famous for his livestreamed video game commentaries, has maintained his spot as YouTube's top subscribed channel for five years. But now, he's about to lose his top spot to T-Series, a Bollywood production company known for its lavish music videos.

So far, PewDiePie, whose real name is Felix Kjellberg,  has amassed a fan base of more than 66 million subscribers. Currently, T-Series has nearly 63 million subscribers and counting. Now, viewers are watching T-Series' tally increase in real time wth a livestreamed display of PewDiePie and T-Series's subscriber counts.

As the Verge points out, even if T-Series overtakes PewDiePie as YouTube's most subscribed channel, he still won't lose his seat as the top-subscribed individual channel on the site. For now, there's still plenty of time for PewDiePie to compete: it's estimated that it will take about two more months for T-Series to catch up.
