Heim's first CEO position was with HighJump Software, which he grew from $8 million in sales in 1997 to $80 million in 2006 before selling the company to 3M Co. He and business partner, Dan Mayleben, proceeded to purchase, grow and sell Amcom Software and Axium, before joining HelpSystems as CEO in late-2014.
