American Film Institute directing fellow Michael Oshins picks up top short film prize at Iowa's 9th annual Halloween-themed film festival
LOS ANGELES - Oct. 31, 2018 - PRLog -- Director Michael Oshins received the Best Short award for his film, "Wendy" at the 9th annual Halloweenapalooza in Ottumwa, Iowa held on Oct 12 and 13 at the historic and "haunted" Hotel Ottumwa. This is the first "best" prize for the film as it has toured film festivals over the past few months following completion in 2017. The film won the Gold Award at the Spotlight Horror Film Awards, and has been nominated for several awards at other film festivals, making it to "Finalist" twice and "Semi-finalist" once.

"Wendy" is an offbeat coming-of-age story set on the day of Halloween. The film runs just under 15 minutes, and craftily blends the genres of comedy, drama, and light horror. As Wendy sees an opportunity to be a normal trick-or-treating kid, she realizes she must first confront the obstacles holding her back.

Juliette Allison Bailey, who stars in the title role, has been nominated for Best Young Actor for her role as Wendy in the upcoming 10th World Music and Independent Film Festival in Washington DC. Rounding out the cast are Alexis Simpson, Trenton Tabak, Kayla Yap, and Zach Rifkin. Zach appears in the new film "Beautiful Boy" with Steve Carell.

Other Credits for Wendy include: Michael Oshins (Director); Kevin Kevin (Writer); Ken Morris (Producer); Mark Rodrigo Jeevaratnam (Cinematographer); Matt Allen (Editor); Joseph Altamuro (Production Design); ChloƩ Annick Ginsburg (Costume Design).
