McBee to Present Part Three of the Webinar Series Preparing for OASIS-D

McBee, the nation’s premier independent health care services and consulting firm, will present the last webinar in a three-part series entitled, “Understanding New Section J in the Preparation for OASIS-D.” Quality Manager, Karen Tibbs, RN, MS, HCS-D, COS-C, will lead the presentation live on December 11 at 1 p.m. E.T.

With the implementation of OASIS-D set for January 1, 2019, post-acute providers need to begin developing and executing strategies to be ready for the proposed changes that will be taking place. This webinar will finish discussing the new section GG Functional Abilities and Goals by looking at GG0170 Mobility and then explore the fall items in section J: Health Conditions.

Attendees will learn the OASIS-D definition of a fall, determine which instances constitute falls, and how to score severity. This webinar will include a crosswalk of the current ADL items with the new mobility items and will explore strategies for accurate data collection and relate new HH Quality Reporting Program measures to OASIS-D.

By the conclusion of this webinar, participants will be able to:

1. Understand guidance, conventions, and response-specific instructions for new Section J: Health Conditions/Falls
2. Identify strategies for accurate assessment of new OASIS-D items
3. Relate OASIS-D with new HH QRP OASIS based measures

Karen Tibbs, RN, MS, HCS-D, COS-C, Quality Manager, OASIS & Coding Services, is a registered nurse with a Master of Science in Health Care Quality. She is currently the Quality and Education Manager for McBee. She has 22 years of home care experience with extensive knowledge in medical review, regulatory compliance, ICD-10, and OASIS accuracy. Karen has earned the Home Care Coding Specialist – Diagnosis (HCS-D) and the Certificate for OASIS Specialist – Clinical (COS-C).
