International Association of Women Recognizes Nancy Berley, M.D., as a 2019-2020 Influencer

The International Association of Women (IAW) recognizes Dr. Nancy Berley as a 2019-2020 Influencer. She is acknowledged as a leader in health and wellness. The International Association of Women (IAW) is a global in-person and online networking platform with nearly one million members, 1000+ in person and virtual events, over 100 Local US-based Chapters and International Chapters in several cities in China.

“I’m pleased to welcome Nancy into this exceptional group of professional women,” said IPDN President and IAW Spokesperson Star Jones. “Her knowledge and experience in her industry are valuable assets to her company and community.”

A family physician for 15 years, Dr. Nancy Berley realized her ability to help others could go beyond her exam room. “After my own weight loss and health journey, I became inspired to become a Health Coach,” she said. “This time had been different for me, and I was committed to making permanent changes. I soon learned that this is the fundamental goal of health coaching—creating lasting habits. This inspired me to pursue training that has allowed me to solidify my commitment to permanent behavior change and learn how to help others do the same.”

After becoming a Certified Health Coach in 2018, Dr. Berley founded her company, Nancy Berley Health Coaching. “In addition to the health coach training, my experience as a family physician has given me an immense background on human health and disease,” she said. “I have developed a keen ear and listening skills and the tools to dig deep to get to the root of my clients’ desires and long-held beliefs.”

Dr. Berley offers clients one-on-one health coaching, helping them to realize their vision and make the change they need to be healthy. “I am also available for speaking engagements on a wide range of health and weight loss related topics and I run Facebook groups promoting healthy habits while providing accountability and support,” she added.

Helping people understand that health coaching is not simply a one-size-fits-all diet and exercise plan can be challenging, admits Dr. Berley, but she is determined to change peoples’ perceptions. “There is no one plan that is right for everyone,” she said. “Together we discover what is right for each client. I am working on changing long-held beliefs so we can make lasting habit change that becomes second nature.”

Dr. Berley finds in very rewarding when she witnesses the positive changes that happen in her clients. “When they can let go of what is holding them back and allow themselves to imagine the possibilities and see the best vision of themselves they can imagine, real life-altering change is made,” she said.

As to the future, Dr. Berley plans to continue to grow her health coaching business while continuing to work as a family physician. “Right now, these two entities are entirely separate, but one day I would like to combine them,” she added.
