Leesburg, VA, USA – Virginia State Senate candidate Mike Buscher expressed outrage and disappointment yesterday during a public forum regarding the incident that occurred at Madison’s Trust Elementary School in Brambleton, Virginia on March 1st. According to Loudoun County Public School (LCPS) officials, six individuals clad in all black and identifying themselves as members of the Black Panther Party, entered the school’s vestibule by following a parent and student who were cleared by staff to enter the school through the electronic door access. The group reportedly continued into the office, some of whom showed IDs and asked to speak with a school administrator to discuss how recent events in the news surrounding the school were being addressed.

Buscher stated, “This incident exemplifies why school safety is and has been the number one issue for my campaign!” Since announcing his run for the Senate District 13 seat in January, Buscher, a retired CIA Officer and National Security executive has advocated for improvements to school safety to include adding uniformed School Resource Officers (SROs) at all elementary schools in Loudoun and Prince William County. “We were incredibly fortunate that these individuals did not intend to commit harm or injury to students and staff, but it must serve as a warning to all of us as to how easily a person can gain direct access to our children during the school day” said Buscher. “I realize that I’m the only candidate with a child in Loudoun County Public Schools however, if we are not willing to make our children’s safety our first priority then what does that say about us as a community.”

In January, Mr. Buscher met with Loudoun County Sheriff Mike Chapman and discussed the addition of SROs at all LCPS elementary schools. Buscher stated, “Sheriff Chapman’s plan, with support from the State and the Loudoun County Board of Supervisors, will go a long way in improving school safety and would mark a huge step in the right direction, I support it 100%.” According to Buscher, drafting comprehensive statewide legislation regarding significant school safety improvements is a must and vows to make it his number one priority in office.

Mike Buscher is a retired CIA Officer, Army Special Operations Officer and senior business executive seeking the Republican nomination for Virginia’s 13th Senate District. He’s a fiscal conservative that believes that Virginians must work together to achieve common goals and move Virginia forward. To learn more please visit Buscher4Senate.com.
