Hong Kong, Mar 7, 2019 (Issuewire.com) - It's official! Asia's oldest, biggest and most diverse event for collectors of old coins and antique watches - the Hongkong International Coin Convention & Antique Watch Fair (HICC) - will take place at the Holiday Inn Golden Mile Hong Kong from 25 to 27 March.

The convention attracts traders and collectors from more than 20 countries and regions, and visitors from all over the world. Exhibitor tables for HICC Spring 2019 are sold out and planning is already underway for HICC Summer 2019, which is scheduled for late August.

New team, same world-class event

HICC Spring 2019 will be the first convention taking place under a new organizing team. Picked by the event's pioneering founder, Ma Tak Wo, who retired in late 2018, it includes Sam Hung, Simon Wong, and Wayne Wong. Mr. Ma will continue to serve as a key consultant.

"We are grateful to be chosen by Mr. Ma to take over the Hong Kong International Coin Convention & Antique Watch Fair, and further his vision of staging world-class industry events," said Sam Hung, Director of Hongkong International Coin Convention & Antique Watch Fair Limited, who is also a director of The Hong Kong & Kowloon Pawnbrokers' Association Limited.

With extensive industry expertise from running their own specialist events, such as the Hong Kong Watch Guild Show, the new team plans to add attractive new elements and make the event even more unique, diverse and rewarding for exhibitors and visitors alike.

"Collecting anything is partly about value, but mainly about passion. For nearly 40 years, my passion has been organising the HICC. I am pleased and proud to be handing its future over to a dedicated team that is committed to continuing the work I have done, and making the convention even better," said Ma.

Co-organisers of this year's convention include The Hong Kong Watch Trade Development Co. Ltd and Eternity Numismatic Company Limited.

Investments, evaluations and Early Birds

"People are increasingly looking for alternative investments that deliver healthy returns. A recent Knight Frank Wealth Report ranked watches and coins in the top 5 of its Luxury Investment Index. Watches delivered a return of 5% and coins 4% over a 12-month period, but they generated a robust 69% and 182% respectively over 10 years," said Hung.

"The HICC has all of these, which makes it an excellent venue for investors. To help visitors with their buying decisions, our Spring convention will feature world-leading grading organisations, providing expert on-the-spot valuations during the convention," Hung added.

Although official opening hours are 10:00am to 6:00pm on Days 1 and 2, and 10:00am to 3:00pm on Day 3, the organiser is offering serious collectors an opportunity to get a head start on other visitors. An Early Bird 3-Day Pass that allows entry at 8:30am each day is available for HK$300, and a Regular Day Pass is HK$20 per day. For more information on the HICC, please visit www.hicc.hk.
