Thereafter, he became board-certified in emergency medicine by the American Board of Emergency Medicine in 1995, one of the 24 medical specialty certification boards recognized by the American Board of Medical Specialties (ABMS). He also attained fellowship status with the American College of Emergency Physicians (FACEP) in 2000. He continues to be active in

Emergency medical services(EMS) as well as in medical education of medical/PA students, resident physicians and nurses. Other  interests include Observational medicine.

Emergency medicine is the medical specialty concerned with the care of illnesses or injuries requiring immediate medical attention. Emergency physicians care for unscheduled and undifferentiated patients of all ages. An emergency physician, like Dr. Welber, is a physician who works at an emergency department to care for ill patients. They specialize in advanced cardiac life support, resuscitation, trauma care, such as fractures and soft tissue injuries, and management of other life-threatening situations.
