Bragster Appoints Bruce Steinberg as Non-Executive Chairman

Bragster.com, the online community for bragging and daring, appoints Bruce Steinberg as its non-executive chairman. Steinberg has a wealth of experience in the entertainment industry, most recently as Chief Executive, Hit Entertainment where he was responsible for growing and developing the portfolio of well-known characters such as Bob the Builder, Barney and Thomas and Friends. The appointment comes after Bragster raised funds from Intel Capital and David Frankel earlier this year.

Steinberg is an experienced broadcast executive and was previously Chief Executive at Jetix, where he was responsible for rebranding the channel and leading the growth of all of Jetixs businesses in 57 countries. Prior to this, Steinberg was General Manager, Broadcasting at BSkyB, with responsibility for Sky One, Sky News, Sky Movies and its Pay-Per-View operation, Sky Box Office. He was the first Chief Executive of UK Gold and UK Living and previously held senior positions at MTV Networks.

Bruce Steinberg said: "Bragster is an exciting company with an exceptional management team and tremendous potential. The site attracts the attention of some large media conglomerates that are struggling to define their online strategy and I believe the concept will play a pivotal role in transforming the media landscape. I am really looking forward to working with the Bragster team and together I think we can achieve great things."

Bragster was set up by Bertrand Bodson and Wim Vernaeve in 2007 and enables visitors to challenge each other and to showcase their victory by posting videos. A social network where ego is everything, Bragster has grown to 900,000 users since launching in early 2007.

Wim Vernaeve said: Bruce joins us at an exciting time when Bragster further transforms itself into an entertainment company. Bruce brings a wealth of experience to the table and will help us establish relationships with some key players in the media industry.

"Bruce also understands the advertising market very well, at a time Bragster starts monetizing its platform with Sponsored Brags. Wim and I look forward to working with Bruce as he will add tremendous value capitalizing on Bragsters understanding of social media along with its broad entertainment appeal," added Bodson.
