New Extenders and Splitters from StarTech.com Provide a Convenient Way to Narrowcast VGA and Audio Content to Remote Locations Using Cat 5 Cables

StarTech.com, (www.startech.com) a leading manufacturer of A/V and digital signage connectivity solutions, has launched four new products in its Converge A/V line, designed to work as part of an overall system of extending and splitting VGA video as well as the corresponding audio, from a single source, using a single Cat 5 cable between the transmitting and receiving units to each display.

Intended to provide A/V and digital signage specialists with a convenient way to narrowcast VGA and audio content to remote locations at distances of up to 300m / 950, the VGA extension system also eliminates cost and reduces cable clutter by using Cat 5 Cables

The popularity of VGA Cat 5 extension products has increased significantly over the past few years as it is a cost-effective and simple method for video distribution and digital signage applications says John Mardinly, Product Manager for StarTech.com. The need for a VGA and audio Cat 5 extender was clear, and we decided to launch a four port, 8 port, long range receiver and a line splitter. The line splitter allows up to 16 displays for the 4 port model, and 32 displays on the 8 port model.

The VGA and audio extension system is branded in the Converge A/V family line up of audio and video solutions, and will initially be comprised of the following devices:

ST124UTPEA VGA Video and Audio over Cat5 UTP Extender (4 Ports) $259.99 (USD) (MSRP)

ST128UTPEA VGA Video and Audio over Cat5 UTP Extender (8 Ports) $399.99 (USD) (MSRP)

STUTPEALR VGA and Audio Cat5 UTP Long Range Receiver $224.99 (USD) (MSRP)

STUTPEA4X VGA Video and Audio over Cat5 UTP Line Splitter (4 Ports) $399.99 (USD) (MSRP)

Other features of StarTech.coms Converge A/V VGA and Audio Extension system include:

  • Can be used with a four or eight port extender to run a maximum of 16 or 32 displays (using VGA Video and Audio over Cat 5 UTP Line Splitter)
  • Choice of standard or long range transmitting units allow users to plan A/V extension based on necessity, budget
