Apisphere for Outlook Plug-In Selected as Best-In-Class Winner in Sierra Wireless - Wavefront Developer Program

Apisphere, Inc., a leading provider of location-smart services for mobile business applications, today announced that its plug-in for Microsoft Outlook® is among a handful of mobile applications selected as a Best-In-Class winner in the Sierra Wireless - Wavefront Developer Program.

Apisphere for Outlook was chosen from among 48 submissions to the program, designed to find best-in-class enterprise or consumer applications that take advantage of the mobile broadband and GPS capabilities built into Sierra Wireless’ adaptor line of PC cards, ExpressCards and USB modems.

Apisphere for Outlook enables users to send and receive location-smart messages on their mobile devices or broadband powered laptops based on their Outlook calendar and location. When a meeting is scheduled in Outlook, the plug-in creates a location-smart “zone” around the meeting location and the calendar entry. This zone activates several features including mapping, real-time traffic updates and geo-triggered voice and text messages for reminders on the go. The application will significantly enhance the productivity and efficiency of businesses that depend on mobile applications.

Apisphere for Outlook is powered by Apisphere’s Geo-Enabled Mobility (GEM) platform which provides a carrier-agnostic solution that allows the ISV or enterprise to build their applications to a standard set of application programming interfaces (APIs) regardless of the carrier requirements, handsets, operating systems or enterprise integration structure.

The Sierra Wireless Wavefront Developer Program was open to all sectors of the developer community, including location based services (LBS), new media and social networking.

Receiving the Best-In-Class distinction from Sierra Wireless means that Apisphere has the opportunity to be included in Sierra Wireless promotional material and integrated with Sierra Wireless products, which are distributed by mobile network operators worldwide.
