FusionOne Partners with Zed and RealGames to Power Mobile Content Portability

FusionOne, the leading provider of mobile phone content portability services, today announced partnerships with two new mobile content providers: Zed, the leading mobile content company worldwide in terms of revenue and geographical presence; and RealGames™, the casual games business unit for leading digital entertainment services company RealNetworks®, Inc. As a result, mobile phone subscribers can now seamlessly move downloaded applications from Zed and RealGames from one mobile device to another using FusionOne’s Handset Transfer Solution.

The Handset Transfer Solution, the only comprehensive service of its kind that includes the transfer of purchased mobile applications, enables mobile carriers to preserve and grow revenue streams derived from content sales by ensuring that when customers get a new phone their downloaded applications are transferred to the new handset.

Content providers can preserve and extend existing relationships with their subscriber customers regardless of a subscriber’s mobile device, and subscribers will no longer be inconvenienced by having to remember, rediscover and repurchase applications from their previous phone. Subscribers will be able to take their applications with them as they upgrade their devices.

“FusionOne’s solution eliminates the customer’s need to rediscover and repurchase their gaming content, making it easier for the consumer to enjoy their favorite mobile games from GameHouse.com and RealArcade,” said Sean Amann, GM of Global Publishing for RealGames.

“We are very pleased to partner with FusionOne’s Handset Transfer Solution,” said J Mays, Senior Director of Business Development at Zed. “Not only does it transfer existing applications and help maintain customer loyalty, but it can also strengthen our partners’ relationships by recommending new content based on their past purchase history.”

A recent survey of 4,000 mobile users by independent research house Coleman Parkes revealed that more than three quarters of them, seventy-eight percent (78%) are concerned about losing mobile content when upgrading their handsets. Ninety-six percent (96%) saw value in a service that could automatically transfer content from an old phone to a new one.

“Both of these content providers have a strong international presence that will be a great asset as we expand into the European market,” said Mohan Sadashiva, senior vice president of marketing for FusionOne. “These partnerships help us move closer to our goal of supporting mobile content portability services for all mobile content worldwide.”

Previously, FusionOne announced the availability of its Handset Transfer Solution and Network Address Book solutions to the European market.
