Newly-Announced Christopher’s Bakery will Honor the Loss of a Young Brother in a Sweet Way

For as long as he could remember, Courtenay had memories of his dad pounding vanilla wafers into a fine powder while he and his younger brother, Christopher, giggled in giddy anticipation and their mother lamented the kitchen mayhem.

This delightful dessert was so good that the boys would dive into the batter before the bowls and mixers could be cleaned. It was a rich and sweet Vanilla Wafer Cake that used wafers instead of flour, mixed in with dried cranberries, raisins, shredded coconut, and pecans.

Courtenay's younger brother, Christopher, was born with hydrocephalus, which eventually lead to epilepsy. In 2003, days before Christopher's 11th birthday, one of those seizures tragically took his life.

Devastated by the loss of this sweet soul, Courtenay dedicated his adult years to finding a way to honor his brother, who remained joyful and smiling despite all he went through.

Recently, Courtenay was hit with an inspiring thought: that delightful cake that he and Christopher enjoyed so much could be turned into a spectacular venture and a way to help find a cure.

Courtenay is now in the process of launching Christopher's Bakery, an online bakery which offers the enticing Vanilla Wafer Cakes and donates a portion of all proceeds to epilepsy and neuroscience research at the Miami Children's Health Foundation.

In order to help get the new online bakery off the virtual ground and pay for the production and marketing costs, Courtenay recently launched a fundraising campaign on Indiegogo. There, he hopes to raise $5,000 through crowdfunding.

Backing Courtenay's Indiegogo campaign will help get his new business operating, and allow people to enjoy a delicious cake that will honor a young man who left the world far too early, as well as give to a cause that makes a difference.
